The Bachelor of Political Science program provides students with a strong foundation and advanced knowledge in political science. The curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking, analytical, and practical skills that enable graduates to understand and address both theoretical and practical political issues in Vietnam and the world. Students are also prepared for careers in public service, political organizations, research institutions, enterprises, and academia.

2. Program Objectives:

2.1. General Objectives

The program equips students with comprehensive knowledge in political science, enabling them to apply theoretical concepts to real-world political contexts. Graduates will be capable of working in Party and State agencies, socio-political organizations, domestic and international enterprises, and research institutions. They are also able to pursue teaching careers in political theory at universities, colleges, vocational schools, political academies, or research centers, subject to meeting pedagogical requirements.

2.2. Specific Objectives

Upon completing the Bachelor of Political Science program at Vinh Long University of Technology Education, graduates should achieve the following:

  • Objective 1: Possess a solid grounding in political theory, national defense, and security knowledge; demonstrate responsibility, discipline, and maintain good health to serve their profession.
  • Objective 2: Acquire foundational knowledge in social sciences as well as specialized knowledge in political science, with the ability to apply this knowledge to interpret theoretical and practical political issues in the country.
  • Objective 3: Attain competence in foreign languages and information technology in accordance with current regulations; develop research capacity; foster creativity, adaptability, and dynamism to meet societal changes.
  • Objective 4: Be prepared for postgraduate studies (Master’s or Doctoral level) in Political Science or related disciplines. After graduation, students can work as specialists in administrative and socio-political organizations, or as lecturers in political theory at various levels of higher and vocational education, political schools, academies, or research institutes (if they hold a pedagogical certificate).

3. Program Learning Outcomes (LO):

Upon completing the program, students will achieve the following in terms of knowledge, skills, autonomy and responsibility:

3.1.Knowledge

  • LO1: Master core knowledge of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, and the Party and State’s policies and laws; acquire basic knowledge of physical education and national defense to serve the building and protection of the Fatherland.
  • LO2: Grasp fundamental knowledge of law, social sciences, and humanities as a foundation for advanced studies in social sciences.
  • LO3: Acquire foundational knowledge of history, economics, politics, culture, and society as the basis for political and political science research.
  • LO4: Develop scientific research methodologies for both disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies.
  • LO5: Integrate knowledge of political science, including contemporary world political systems, political parties, modern political trends, public policy issues, political approaches, geopolitics, and political decision-making.
  • LO6: Use a foreign language at level 3 (equivalent to B1 CEFR) and apply specialized foreign language skills in political studies and research.

3.2. Skills

  • LO7: Apply specialized knowledge to analyze ongoing political and social issues.
  • LO8: Conduct research in general and in political science in particular, with the capacity for higher-level study.
  • LO9: Work independently, think critically, and employ alternative solutions in dynamic professional contexts.
  • LO10: Apply basic IT knowledge for academic, social, and professional purposes; communicate and read specialized materials in a foreign language.
  • LO11: Collaborate effectively in teams, define goals, and organize tasks.
  • LO12: Apply acquired knowledge in communication and presentation, and use supporting tools effectively at work.

3.3. Autonomy and Responsibility

  • LO13: Comply with workplace discipline; fulfill civic responsibilities as prescribed by the State.
  • LO14: Demonstrate professionalism, confidence, and accountability; proactively plan career development; update knowledge continuously to adapt to changes; make informed professional judgments and defend personal viewpoints.

  • Duration: 4 years (full-time)
  • Total Credits: 135 (excluding Physical Education and National Defense & Security Education)

   - General Education: 37 credits (Compulsory: 37, Elective: 0)

   - Basic Disciplinary Courses: 42 credits (Compulsory: 32, Elective: 10)

   - Specialized Courses: 46 credits (Compulsory: 36, Elective: 10)

   - Graduation Module: 10 credits (Compulsory: 10, Elective: 0)
