2. Training Objectives:

2.1. General Objective:

The Bachelor of English Language program aims to develop students’ English proficiency in accordance with the Vietnamese 6-Level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In addition, students are provided with knowledge of English linguistics, intercultural communication, translation and interpretation, and teaching methodology, enabling them to apply English to diverse fields and professions. English Language graduates are equipped with soft skills, scientific research capacity, professional ethics, organizational discipline and industrial style, meeting the requirements of integration trends and the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

2.2. Specific Objectives (SO):

SO1: Provide students with both fundamental and advanced knowledge of English linguistics, translation and interpretation, teaching methodology, research methods, and English for specific purposes in fields such as business, marketing, commerce, and international relations.

SO2: Develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to Level 5 of the Vietnamese 6-Level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework and C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR); apply knowledge in practice, engage in critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and research in modern professional contexts.

SO3: Foster professional ethics, responsibility, discipline, professional working style, and the capacity for self-study and independent work, contributing to the development of responsible and law-abiding citizens.

3. Learning Outcomes (LO):

3.1. Knowledge:

LO1: Present and apply basic knowledge of social sciences, Marxist–Leninist philosophy, Ho Chi Minh Thought, Political Economy, Scientific Socialism, and the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam, as well as state policies and laws.

LO2: Achieve proficiency in Japanese or another second foreign language (Level 3 of the Vietnamese 6-Level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework) and basic IT competency as required by the Ministry of Education and Training.

LO3: Apply English knowledge and skills at Level 5 of the Vietnamese 6-Level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework in study and professional contexts.

LO4: Systematize and apply specialized knowledge in linguistics and professional fields such as translation, interpretation, teaching, and business. 

LO5: Describe and apply research methods, prepare research proposals, and conduct scientific studies.

LO6: Demonstrate knowledge of soft skills, including communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and lifelong learning in study and work.

3.2. Skills:

LO7: Use English skills at Level 5 of the Vietnamese 6-Level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework (equivalent to CEFR C1) to perform effectively in professional positions related to English language major.

LO8: Apply translation and interpreting skills in professional contexts, with a focus on translation, interpretation, and business English.

LO9: Perform language teaching and assessment skills in English education.

LO10: Communicate effectively in multicultural academic and professional settings; and apply IT for social, academic, and professional purposes.

3.3. Autonomy and Responsibility:

LO11: Engage in self-study, independent research, and continuous knowledge updating in linguistics, culture, and English teaching methodologies, thereby fostering critical and creative thinking.

LO13: Develop professionalism, a positive and proactive attitude, and a strong sense of responsibility for personal, collective, and community development.

4. Program Duration: 4 years (full time)

Graduates of the English Language program can pursue careers in:

- Teaching and education: English teachers at schools and language centers; teaching assistants for foreign teachers at international schools or centers; staff at publishing houses or educational organizations.

- Translation and interpretation: Translators and interpreters of books, documents, contracts, and specialized texts; editors for newspapers, magazines, or online platforms; interpreters for conferences, events, or tourism.

- Communication and marketing: English content creators for websites, social media, or advertising campaigns; communication specialists in international companies or organizations with foreign partners.

- Office administration: Secretaries or executive assistants supporting administrative tasks and international communication.

- Entrepreneurship and professional development: Opportunities to establish businesses or advance careers in fields requiring English proficiency.

6. Further Study Opportunities

Graduates will be able to continue their studies at the postgraduate level (Master’s or Doctoral programs) in Vietnam or abroad. They can also pursue equivalent-level programs in related fields through cross-credit transfer pathways, both domestically and internationally.
