Introduction to the Department of Information Technology
The Department of Information Technology at Vinh Long University of Technology Education was established in 1993 by the decision of the Principal of College of Technical Education IV (the predecessor of Vinh Long University of Technology Education today).
Functions of the Department
The Department of Information Technology performs functions of training, scientific research, and technology transfer in the field of Information Technology. The Department manages officials, lecturers, staff, and students according to the hierarchy of the Principal. In addition, the Department advises the Principal and Vice Principals on training activities, managing training courses and majors of the Department. The Department is responsible for the quality of training, personnel management, management of assets, facilities, and equipment under its management. Furthermore, the Department is in charge of managing the entire network system and Website of the university.
Training Programs
The Department regularly updates its training programs to meet the requirements of businesses and align with the trends of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, ensuring modern, advanced, and practical aspects. The Information Technology program is accredited and recognized for meeting international standards by Skills International of New Zealand.
Collaboration with Businesses and Universities
The Department has signed cooperation agreements with numerous reputable businesses and universities such as VinGroup, VNPT, FPT, Aix-Marseille University (France), Tongmyong University, and KOREATECH University (South Korea).
Achievements of Students
Over the years, the Department has trained many students who have achieved high awards in national and international skills competitions. Among them, 2 students won Gold and Silver Medals at the ASEAN Skills Competition (in 2016 and 2018) and represented Vietnam in the World Skills Competition. At the National Skills Competition in 2021, the Department excellently won 4 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal, and 2 Bronze Medals.
Scientific Research
The Department has completed numerous scientific research projects at the grassroots level and valuable practical initiatives, which are being applied at the university. The work "Automatic Irrigation Control System" by the Department was featured in the Vietnam Creative Gold Book in 2020.
