Training Workshop on the Use of Digital Services with the National Domain Name ".vn"
On May 21, the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long Province, in collaboration with Vinh Long University of Technology Education (VLUTE) and the Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC) – Ho Chi Minh City Branch, conducted a training session to guide participants on registering and utilizing the national domain name '.vn'.
The event was attended by Ms. Tang Lenh Hong Lan, Deputy Head of the Digital Transformation Division at the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long Province, and Ms. Tran Thi Van, Representative of the VNNIC Branch in Ho Chi Minh City. Representing VLUTE were Dr. Nguyen Thai Van, Head of the Office of Science Management and International Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Anh Cang, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, along with faculty members and students."
At the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Anh Cang highlighted the critical role of national domain names, including Vietnam’s ".vn" and those of other countries, in representing national identity on the internet. These domains help users easily recognize websites that belong to organizations or businesses based in a particular country. This training session is expected to help lecturers and students across the university better understand the registration and use of the ".vn" national domain, thereby establishing a credible, safe, and trustworthy online presence for individuals and organizations.
During the training, representatives from the Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC) guided VLUTE lecturers and students on establishing an online presence using the “.vn” national domain. They also highlighted the value of the “id.vn” domain for personal branding and provided practical guidance on creating websites with the “id.vn” domain.
The program aims to raise awareness and support the use of the ".vn" national domain along with digital services such as websites and emails, contributing to the sustainable development of digital citizenship, the digital economy, and a digital society. This initiative, promoting online presence through the “.vn” domain, is being widely implemented nationwide with the participation of local authorities, universities, and colleges across Vietnam.
