VLUTE Students’ Participation in the ASEAN Vocational and Engineering Camp 2017 (AVEC 2017)

ASEAN Vocational and Engineering Camp (AVEC 2017) was held from 16 – 23 July, 2017 at the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) with the collaboration of the Regional Association for Vocational and Technical Education in Asia (RAVTE).

AVEC 2017 is open to all universities from ASEAN countries including the RAVTE members. The undergraduate students with background in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, information technology, computer science and engineering are encouraged to participate in this camp. The camp provides an opportunity to understand and apply the use of IoT in variety of contexts.

Vinh Long University of Technology Education has sent two students in the field of Control Engineering & Automation Technology and Food Technology to take part in the international camp. This is an opportunity for VLUTE students to visit, learn, experience and interact with international friends.

The camp provided all concerned parties with a great opportunity to create the leaders, technologies and engineers of tomorrow through leadership talks, team building activities, social innovation workshops and design thinking. The participants also gained knowledge and understanding of the different cultures within the ASEAN through innovation, as well as, building mutual understanding, friendship and networking among ASEAN youth.

This international camp aims to enhance the creativity of students, help foster creativity and serves as the convergence of future engineers through technology design projects. This camp definitely motivates and inspires future engineers through exposure to design thinking, as well as generating good cooperation between ASEAN countries. The participants also have the chance to practice using Internet of Thing (IoT), facilitating them to solve problems in various contexts, a knowledge transferable to other fields for the benefits of others.

AVEC 2016 was successfully conducted from 3 - 10 July 2016 at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna (RMUTL), Chiang Mai, Thailand. The main input from AVEC 2016 camp consisted of a 5 day workshop focusing on the implementation of the Internet of Thing (IoT), sponsored by ST Microelectronic, Espert, RMUTL and Singapore Polytechnic. On this occasion, 02 VLUTE students majoring in Information Technology and Automotive Engineering Technology attended at the camp.
